Position Summary As the Senior Production Manager, you will lead daily production operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality manufacturing performance. In this role you will focus on developing strong teams, building scalable production systems, and driving continuous improvement through collaboration with Production Supervisors, frontline employees, and cross‑functional partners. You will work closely with the Engineering Manager and EHS to align production needs with engineering, maintenance, and safety requirements. You will ensure that process changes and operational improvements are developed collaboratively and implemented consistently across all shifts to support long-term operational stability and growth.
Key Responsibilities Leadership and Performance Management - Develop, coach, and support Production Supervisors to ensure they can independently lead safe, efficient, and high-quality daily operations.
- Oversee daily production operations through supervisors to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality output across all shifts.
- Ensure supervisors and frontline employees are engaged in process changes and fully equipped to execute updated processes.
- Monitor individual performance to goals (safety, quality, delivery, cost) and address performance gaps through coaching and problem-solving
Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement - Lead Lean-based continuous improvement initiatives to improve flow, reduce waste, and increase operational stability.
- Develop and sustain production systems, standard work, and visual management tools.
- Support long-term operational planning, including capacity, equipment, and process readiness for future growth.
- Manage labor utilization, overtime, scrap, rework, and departmental operating expenses within assigned budget areas.
Communication and Collaboration - Collaborate with Engineering Manager, EHS, and other cross-functional partners to align production needs with engineering, maintenance, and safety requirements.
- Present operational performance, risks, and improvement progress to senior leadership with clarity, professionalism, and composure.
Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in engineering, operations management, business, or a related field. Equivalent combination of education and relevant manufacturing leadership experience may be considered.
- 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with:
- 7+ years of progressive leadership experience overseeing supervisors and frontline teams
- 2+ years of engineering experience
- 5+ years of experiences applying Lean or continuous improvements methods within a Lean management system; including root-cause analysis, standard work, and waste reduction.
- Demonstrated leadership and coaching skills, with the ability to develop supervisors, build accountability and lead effectively through others.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret production data and make decisions related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Proven ability to lead production teams through cross ‑ functional initiatives, including new product introductions, equipment installations, and large ‑ scale process changes. Proven ability to manage change, influence culture, and drive adoption of new processes or standards.
- Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office, Power BI and data modeling and ERP/MRP systems.
Preferred Skills and Experience - Improvement Kata experience as a 1 st or 2 nd coach.
- Experience collaborating across functions and navigating interconnected systems outside your direct scope that influence key deliverables. High emotional intelligence (EQ), including self-awareness, empathy, active listening, and the ability to influence, coach, and de-escalate conflict across shifts and cross-functional teams.
- Experience leading career development and coaching sessions with individuals.
- Experience with strategy development and deployment.
