Position Summary
This is a remote position, however, candidates must reside within the D.C., Maryland, or Virginia area.
National Capitol Contracting (NCC) is seeking a Multimedia Editor to provide transcription, post-production captioning, and live event audio/visual recording support, to include webcasts. NCC works with both government agencies and the private sector, and our team is comprised of individuals who are eager to tackle new challenges, find creative solutions to multimedia projects, and who share our commitment to surpassing client expectations.
The right candidate will be able to think and work independently; operate within a team structure that requires creativity, innovation, and fresh perspectives; lead individual and group assignments; interface with clients on customer sites; independently learn new technology and software; travel locally, and occasionally nationally, to work on customer sites; provide collaborative support to other divisions; and constantly look for opportunities to create efficiencies that benefit our customers, our team, and our processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Edit and proofread transcripts for accuracy, formatting, and other customer requirements on fast turnaround.
- Timecode and sync transcripts to video projects that may include meetings, hearings, conference, and feature films.
- Record high-quality audio and/or video of meetings, hearings, and conferences using recording equipment.
- Interface with customers, colleagues, and division/executive leadership in a manner that reflects NCC’s core values.
Minimum Requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance (must be able to pass a criminal background and credit check).
- Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, multimedia editing, video, audio, or a related field. In lieu of a degree, additional relevant professional experience will be considered.
- 1+ years of professional and/or at least 4 years of comparable academic work experience.
- Experience editing and proofreading transcripts and working with industry-related software, including Microsoft Office and Adobe applications.
- Ability to manage competing deadlines with strong attention to detail, organization, and accountability.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with transcript timecoding, video synchronization, and post-production captioning.
- Experience recording live events or webcasts using microphones, soundboards, and other audio and video equipment.
- Experience supporting federal government clients or working onsite with customers.
- Experience collaborating across teams and learning new production tools and workflows.
Special Position Requirements:
Schedule: Base schedule will fall between 9am-5pm Eastern Time Zone, with the flexibility to work early mornings, evenings and/or weekends to meet business/customer requirements.
Compensation: $40,000 - $50,000
