Description:The Assessment Clinician is responsible for conducting comprehensive, person-centered biopsychosocial assessments to determine diagnostic impressions, identify clinical needs and risks, recommend the appropriate level of care, and facilitate timely access to behavioral health services. This position serves as the clinical entry point into services, ensuring assessments are clinically sound, strengths-based, and aligned with agency, state, and CCBHC standards.

Clinical Expectations
The Assessment Clinician is expected to:
- Utilize clinical judgment rather than simply documenting client responses.
- Synthesize information from multiple sources into a cohesive clinical formulation.
- Demonstrate strong diagnostic reasoning.
- Produce clear, concise, and clinically meaningful documentation.
- Recognize barriers to care and incorporate person-centered recommendations into the assessment.
- Ensure assessment recommendations support timely engagement in treatment.
Qualifications:Education and Experience:
- Master’s degree in human services or health-related field (including, but not limited to counseling, social work, psychology, etc.)
- Licensure/Certification:
- Must possess one of the following New Mexico licenses: Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Professional Art Therapist (LPAT), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
- Any candidate whom can meet state requirements to provide clinical services within their field will be considered.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
- Strong diagnostic interviewing skills.
- Advanced clinical writing abilities.
- Experience completing biopsychosocial assessments.
- Knowledge of evidence-based assessment practices.
- Knowledge of ASAM
- Experience using standardized screening instruments and measurement-based care.
- Ability to make sound clinical decisions in fast-paced environment
