Mechanical Repair Tech

Job Description

A Mechanical Repair Technician repairs/rebuilds electronic and electro-mechanical components, including subassemblies and final products. This is accomplished by working closely with Customer Service Tester/Technicians repair work orders, following engineering and production drawings, bill of materials, and/or sample assemblies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES & AUTHORITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Repair basic mechanical assemblies using various hand tools and tooling.

• Read and understand Bill of Materials, Assembly drawings and manufacturing instructions.

• Quality check your own and others work for workmanship and accuracy.

• Being aware of shortages and rejected parts.

• Communicates clearly.

• Participates in team meetings.

• Good housekeeping practices and adheres to all company policies.

• Works safely.

• Reference IPC 610 for acceptance criteria.

• Write up and process rejected material to Material Review.

• Perform requirements of the Torque Log and other ISO logs.

• Generate and process ECO’s and Deviations.

• Trains others.

• Supply feedback on Design for Manufacturing items (DFM).

• Investigate and solve mechanical assembly issues.

• Work with all manufacturing teams to repair assemblies in a timely manner.

• Meet customer due dates by working with CS Testers / Technicians, Data Entry and Sales associates.

• Organize and set daily targets to keep repairs moving forward. (Customer Satisfaction)

• Update tracking spreadsheets with daily updates.

• Continue to learn all product lines to better fulfill the job of repairing any customer returned products.

• Work closely with Engineers on rework or upgrades to current products

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A MECHANICAL REPAIR TECHNICIAN

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Three to six years of related experience OR a combination of relevant education, training, and experience

• IPC J-STD 001 Modules 1-3 or equivalent

• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

• Ability to navigate and use internet/intranet and other programs such as the MS Office package including Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Access, or Company-wide cross functional Enterprise Resource Planning software.  Must also be able to perform limited troubleshooting.

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

SALARY RANGE   

The starting hourly rate for the role is between USD $20.00 and $25.00. The actual base is dependent upon many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. The role may also be eligible for variable bonus programs and benefits.
