The Lead Project Engineer will lead medium-complexity projects with typically medium-sized (5-15 members) teams and annual program/project cost budget ($5M plus) for New Product Development (NPD), New Product Introduction (NPI)/Low-Rate Initial Production (LRIP), and/or In-Service Related (IRB) for Motion Control Systems (MCS) products including technical leadership for the program/project. The position will report to the Engineer Program Manager in the Mechanical Systems and Components division. The role will be located out of Tempe, AZ on a hybrid schedule.
Responsibilities - Program/project management to maintain/control/compliance/analyze cost, schedule, resource allocation, risks, and milestones to Integrated Master Schedule (IMS)
- Cost Account Management (CAM) skills in the SAP environment
- Knowledge of System and component requirements analysis and decomposition
- Knowledge of Control architecture and design
- Knowledge of physics-based model development and system design
- Able to lead investigation of complex-to-system level technical issues root cause and corrective action of issues including planning, execution, and resolution
- Electro-Mechanical systems Validation & Verification (V&V)
- Customer and supplier technical interface
- Use excellent communication skills to provide clear, effective, efficient, and succinct communication of complex issues
- Work with functional leaders to prioritize resources and implement project objectives
- Proposal cost, schedule, and risk development and estimation to support existing programs/projects and new business opportunities
- Mentor less experienced/early career engineers
- Less than 10% of domestic US travel and/or less than 2% of international travel (if necessary)
Qualifications YOU MUST HAVE- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in technical discipline such as engineering, sciences, technology, or mathematics
- Minimum six (6) years of Engineering experience in Complex Aerospace Systems

- Business acumen – knowledge of current and emerging practices, methods, and information relating to discipline and application within the industry
- Mechanical/Actuation Systems design and component controller integration
- Experience with systems requirement flow down
- Experience developing motor driven actuation systems
- Experience with systems requirement Validation and Verification (V&V)
- Experience with Earned Value Measurement System (EVMS)
- Certification as a Control Account Manager (CAM)
