Join the Materials Engineering design and applications team within the Global Product Engineering Services organization. You will provide technical consulting for the primary area of chemical processing and coatings for corrosion control, thermal management, and fluid compatibility in accordance with internal and external customer requirements. You will be responsible for interfacing with design engineers, manufacturing engineers and technicians, internal materials engineering laboratory, suppliers, and external customers to generate specifications, testing plans, fixed-process approvals, and special process audits in advance of approving the end-item configurations.
You will team with other experienced engineers and ensure that material and process requirements are met on environmental control system and engines & propulsion programs for both commercial and military applications. You will have the opportunity to participate and provide technical input on multiple phases of the product life cycle from new development, to current production, to program sunset.
Qualifications YOU MUST HAVE - Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in chemical processing, including chemical surface treatments and coatings of aerospace alloys for corrosion control and other environmental performance characteristics
- Experience and ability to interpret, review, and disposition blueprints and specifications to ensure customer and internal material and process requirements are properly incorporated into Honeywell Aerospace designs
- Willingness to participate in development towards a certifying agent role (supplier auditor) with the Chemical Process team
- Willing and able to travel both domestically and internationally
- Ability to work under minimal supervision and independently manage multiple projects and assignments
WE VALUE- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or master’s degree in engineering
- Understanding and working knowledge of Aerospace Quality Systems AS910
- Basic knowledge of aerospace alloys and applications such as stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, Inconel, and titanium
- Familiarity with REACh regulations surrounding hexavalent chromium and other substances of concern in the UK & EU is highly desirable
- Experience mentoring lower-level engineers on projects, technology, or process development is highly desirable
- Experience with Nadcap program (AC7108) and industry and military specification requirements (MIL, AMS, ASTM, etc) is highly desirable
- Project management experience is a plus
- Six Sigma certification
- Ability to design, coordinate, execute, and analyze complex test plans
- Understanding of root cause and corrective action (RCCA) methodologies
- Demonstrating the ability to efficiently interface directly with customers both internal and external for design reviews
- Individuals with an innovative mindset, who are self-motivated, and consistently work in a proactive manner to deliver results
- Ability to cope with a high-demand and dynamic environment where priorities change frequently and many assignments are worked at the same time
- Strong experience with Microsoft Office and 365 applications (Teams, OneNote, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Sharepoint, Power BI, etc)
The annual base salary range for this position is $104,000 - $130,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
