Lead Advanced Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description

As a Lead Advanced Manufacturing Engineer at Honeywell, you will serve as a technical leader responsible for driving key manufacturing processes within aerospace component production. This role plays a critical part in ensuring product quality, performance, and operational efficiency, with a strong focus on advanced turbine engine coating technologies.

This is a hands-on, individual contributor role with significant technical ownership and influence—providing leadership and guidance to engineering teams without direct people management responsibilities.


Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
  • Own and lead end-to-end advanced manufacturing processes, with focus on:
    • Process development, parameters, and optimization
    • Tooling design and qualification
    • Maintenance and inspection criteria
    • Customer approvals and compliance
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process stability, product quality, and operational efficiency
  • Analyze production data and performance metrics to identify improvement opportunities and implement corrective actions
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and cross-functional teams
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and quality teams to support production goals
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace quality standards, safety regulations, and industry requirements
  • Support integration and advancement of manufacturing technologies (e.g., automation, advanced processing methods)

Core Technical Focus
  • Aerospace special process manufacturing
  • Thermal barrier coatings, including ceramic or aluminizing technologies
  • Preferred specialization in EBPVD (Electron Beam Physical Vapor Deposition)

This role includes full technical ownership of coating processes, directly impacting product performance and customer requirements.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field or 10+ years of EBPVD Thermal Coating Engineering experience.
  • Proven experience in advanced manufacturing and process optimization within aerospace or highly regulated industries
  • Strong expertise in thermal coating technologies (ceramic and aluminizing)
  • Experience in data analysis and process control (e.g., statistical process control)
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a technical leadership capacity
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills


Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct hands-on experience with EBPVD coating processes
  • Experience in highly regulated aerospace manufacturing environments
  • Master’s degree in Engineering or related field
  • Knowledge of advanced manufacturing technologies (automation, robotics)
  • Strong project management and continuous improvement experience
  • Six Sigma Black Belt

Team & Work Environment
  • Part of a technical leadership group alongside Principal and Lead Engineers
  • Reports into a manager overseeing a team of ~22 engineers
  • Provides technical direction and mentorship to junior engineers while maintaining IC responsibilities
  • Collaborative, engineering-driven environment focused on advanced aerospace manufacturing
