Manages daily plant operation functions in a safe manner to ensure production schedules and requirements are achieved on a quality, timely and cost-effective basis. Ensures compliance with government regulations pertaining to environmental controls, hazardous waste management and safety.
Principal Responsibilities:- Drives a positive safety culture by setting a good example and by continually improving effectiveness of safety training and programs
- Develops and maintains manufacturing operation business plans to include all program requirements, labor hours, cycle and production costs.
- Cultivates a culture of teamwork
- Establishes production and quality control standards, develops budget and cost controls, and obtains data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.
- Ensures all established costs, quality, safety and delivery commitments are met.
- Coordinates manufacturing activities with all other functions for the organization and suppliers to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines and equipment.
- Reviews production costs and product quality and modifies production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of division.
- Reviews production and operating reports and directs the resolution of operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
- Assures maintenance programs are carried out, and production interruption is minimized through consistent preventative maintenance follow up. Recommend system improvements and plans for upgrading productivity.
- Trains and ensures all assigned employees are aware of and comply with company, government and customer policies, procedures and regulations.
- Directs preparation of accounting records.
- Participates in annual budgeting process. Responsible for operating and capital budget development and attainment.
- Visits competitors and related company facilities to maintain a current knowledge of methods and costs typical of the industry's best/worst companies. Attends meetings, trade shows, seminars, etc. to maintain current knowledge of best practices applicable to the management of manufacturing operations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Management duties include supervision of exempt and/or non-exempt staff. This includes but is not limited to, conducting performance evaluations and improvement plans, approving paid time-off (PTO), assigning or delegating work, providing on-the-job training, giving guidance to staff, taking disciplinary action, and interviewing candidates for open positions.

Qualifications: - Education: Bachelors preferred or,
- Experience: Four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- License/Certification:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Knowledge and practical experience of lean manufacturing methods.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
