Job Overview:

The Maintenance Technician I plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of facility equipment and property structures by conducting general maintenance and repairs. They are responsible for maintaining facilities and common areas in optimal condition across various settings such as plants, warehouses, and office areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Respond promptly in the event of an emergency, notify appropriate personnel, and adhere to all safety policies and procedures, utilizing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Demonstrate willingness to work overtime as required.
  • Possess understanding of automation equipment including sensors, switches, and valves.
  • Manage inventory related to automated areas.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work conducted.
  • Survey buildings and repair mechanical systems to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Conduct maintenance of electrical systems.
  • Assist in maintaining facility budgets by ensuring competitive pricing and purchasing quality products.
  • Maintain air and plumbing systems to ensure functionality within the plant and automation area.
  • Inspect alarm systems and fire protection equipment, scheduling repairs promptly when needed.
  • Work independently to perform assigned tasks efficiently.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors as necessary to complete specific repairs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma and 0 – 2 years of work-related experience.
  • Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and other systems.
  • Demonstrated experience as a maintenance technician.
  • Physical capability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Strong understanding of general maintenance processes and methods.
  • Proficiency in operating a variety of equipment including forklifts, cranes, scissor lifts, and small hand tools.
  • Ability to clean and maintain common shop areas.
  • Effective communication of repair issues to affected employees.
  • Disposal of trash and machine shavings from the plant area.
  • Excellent manual dexterity and problem-solving skills.
