Senior-Principal Hydrogeologist - Western US

Arcadis is seeking a highly skilled, detail-oriented, well-organized, and dependable senior-level groundwater scientist/engineer (Engineer, Environmental Scientist, Geologist, or Hydrogeologist) to support our growing community. The position requires a strong background in quantitative hydrogeology (i.e., mathematical interpretation hydrogeologic systems) to assist with a variety of groundwater remediation and water resources projects throughout the US and abroad.

This full-time position requires strict adherence to health and safety procedures, attention to detail, good work ethic, a strong desire to work well with others, and a passion for creating high-quality work products.

Role description:

Responsibilities may include, but not be limited to, the following:

Quantitative/qualitative interpretation hydrogeologic systems, Conceptual site model (CSM) development, Remedial system conceptual design, Analytical calculations and water resource evaluations, Remedial system performance evaluation, Remediation/supply well design, Aquifer test design and analysis, Geostatistical analysis and modeling of hydrogeologic data, Application of advance, Analytical/numerical groundwater flow and transport modeling to support environmental remediation and water resource projects, Advanced/state-of-the science, Visualization of CSM components and flow/transport modeling results, Preparation of technical reports and presentations, Design, oversight, and analysis of subsurface characterization and remediation activities, Preparation of planning documents, Installation of soil borings, Monitoring/remediation well installation, Collection of soil and water samples (e.g., vertical aquifer profiling), Geophysical investigations, Tracer tests and Interpretation and documentation of investigation results (i.e., interpretation of geologic depositional environments and hydrogeologic conditions)
  • Communicate and work closely with project teams, clients, and regulatory agencies
  • Review work products developed by junior staff and mentor/help develop their careers
  • Assist with writing and preparing technical reports, work plans, proposals, and presentations
  • Production of figures, maps, and graphical summaries of data trends
  • Conducting project-related research (historical data, regulations, etc.)
  • Prepare and present both internal- and external-facing technical presentations and/or articles to help demonstrate thought leadership and to advance innovation

Field work/site visits will often be performed at project sites with environmental media (e.g., soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, etc.) that has been impacted with hazardous substances and/or hazardous wastes.

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum Years of Experience: 15 to 20
  • Education: MS in Geology, Hydrogeology, Engineering, Environmental Science or related discipline
  • Knowledge of the environmental and water resources regulatory regime across the United States
  • Certifications/Licenses: Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered/Professional Geologist (RG/PG)
  • 40-Hour OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard (HAZWOPER) Training
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office-based software programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Will also require a clean driving record, education verification and certification verification

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in programming/groundwater-related software proficiency as well as development and application of groundwater flow and solute transport models
  • This position may require travel; travel amount is anticipated to be 5-20%
  • A valid driver's license and clean driving record is required for this position

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $124,700 - $187,050.

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
