Description:
The Coordinator of Alumni Relations is responsible for developing and distributing strategic communications (emails, newsletters, webpage, custom outreach). The Coordinator assists with the planning of signature events (alumni celebration, regional events, ring ceremony, soaring hawks, and departmental events specific to student engagement/future alumni, etc.). Engages with student alumni ambassadors; liaises with Director of Alumni Relations and the Alumni Association Board to assist with activities. Assists with maintaining current alumni contacts and with the development of content intended for impact reports.
Duties: - Supports the Director of Alumni Relations with planning, execution and continual development of alumni programs and events through marketing and communication efforts. Represents Alumni Relations on and off campus.
- Assists with content development on alumni website, social media platforms and other digital communications.
- Assists with creative communications to engage UHCL alumni and students. Assists with organizing initiatives including but not limited to Student Alumni Ambassadors, annual celebration, golf tournament, and the Class Ring program.
- Responds to general alumni inquiries, updates CRM with alumni information, organizes volunteer efforts, manages alumni awards nomination process, and responds to questions/issue pertaining to UHCL alumni benefits program (events/parking/cost savings with university partners, etc.).
- Researches and develops recognition of alumni with key accomplishments, job updates, awards, etc.
- Assists with volunteer management for alumni relations and, when appropriate, other advancement areas.
- Assists with alumni engagement metrics, develops strategies with the Director for future alumni donor pipeline and performs related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in communications, business or a related field.
- Experience in digital communications and website content development.
Preferred Qualifications: - At least three years of experience in event organization, volunteer management, and marketing.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Knowledge of multi-channel marketing strategies.
- Knowledge related to higher education, alumni relations, and student involvement.
- Knowledge of metrics capture and reporting.
- Knowledge of alumni relations functions through experiential learning.
- Skilled in MS Office tools (specifically Word and Excel), CMS (webpage platform), marketing, project planning, time management.
- Skills in marketing, project planning, and time management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as organizational skills.
- Ability to manage long-range planning while prioritizing and completing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to build and strategically enhance internal and external relationships.
