Position Summary:
The Shop Mechanic for Power Contracting is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a fleet of construction vehicles and heavy equipment used in power and utility construction operations. This position supports field crews by ensuring all vehicles and equipment are safe, reliable, and compliant with DOT, OSHA, and company standards. Work is performed primarily at active job sites, with significant travel throughout the assigned region and occasional storm response support.
Essential Functions:
Conduct all work professionally while representing Power Contracting positively in diverse work environments.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required.
Technical or trade school certification in diesel, automotive, or heavy equipment technology preferred.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience working on commercial vehicles and/or heavy equipment.
Strong experience with diesel and gasoline engines, braking systems, electrical systems, and diagnostics required.
Experience with hydraulic systems and aerial equipment (bucket trucks) strongly preferred.
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid driver’s license required.
CDL preferred or willingness to obtain.
Technical Competencies:
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose complex equipment issues.
Working knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems used in utility and construction equipment.
Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and technical documentation.
