Overview

The Technology & Systems Analyst provides integrated and advanced technical support for a large and complex organizational unit with specialized information technology requirements. The Analyst researches, analyzes, and defines complex user problems and requirements, develops systems and program specifications, and develops solutions independently, or in consultation with central information technology staff.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS or other field involving software and analytical training and one year of IT related work experience; or a Bachelor's degree with no specific required field and two years of IT related work experience, OR a Master's degree and one year of IT related work experience, OR a combination of five years of IT related work experience and validated training. Preparation for a relevant IT certification is considered to be related training.
  • Degree Equivalency Clause: Four years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree.
    • Senate Bill 1310- The Florida Senate (https://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2023/1310) is conditional upon meeting all employment eligibility requirements in the U.S.
    • SB 1310: Substitution of Work Experience for Postsecondary Education Requirements
    • A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required, not to exceed:
    • (a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree;
    • (b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
    • (c) Six years of direct experience for a master's degree;
    • (d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or
    • (e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree
    • Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure, certification, or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment.
    • Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.


Preferred Competencies
  • Systems analysis and solution design
  • Technical troubleshooting across integrated systems
  • Knowledge of SQL and/or scripting/programming for reporting and automation
  • Web support and development (CMS, HTML/CSS/JS, server-side web technologies e.g. ASP.Net , C#, PHP, and Python)
  • Hardware and software application support
  • End-user support, technical training, and system documentation
  • Cross-functional collaboration in a higher education environment
  • Technical communication with non-technical stakeholders
  • Knowledge of accessibility, security, and institutional technology standards

  • Analyze existing and proposed information systems, applications, and business processes to identify functional requirements and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to document system needs, workflows, and dependencies.
  • Investigate and resolve complex system and application issues using structured analytical and fact-finding methods, ensuring systems effectively support academic and administrative operations across the college.

Technology Implementation and User Support (35%)
  • Support college's technology planning efforts by evaluating, recommending, and coordinating the implementation of approved hardware and software solutions.
  • Participate in technology projects by translating business requirements into technical specifications and assisting with system configuration, testing, and deployment activities.
  • Provide advanced technical support, guidance, and training to user support staff and serve as a technical resource to end users to promote effective adoption of technology solutions.

Application, Data, & Web System Support (20%)
  • Support and maintain unit-level applications, databases, reporting tools, and web systems by performing configuration, maintenance, testing, and enhancements.
  • Develop and maintain queries, reports, and scripts as needed to support data access and operational reporting.
  • Coordinate updates to web applications and sites, including markup and configuration changes, to ensure reliability, security, accessibility, and compliance with established standards.

Technology Knowledge and Professional Development (5%)
  • Maintain current knowledge of emerging technologies, systems, and best practices.
  • Participate in professional development activities to support continuous improvement and informed decision-making.

Other Duties as Assigned (5%)
  • Perform additional responsibilities in support of college operations and strategic priorities.
