We are seeking a passionate and experienced Project Execution Manager II to join our Project Delivery team. In this pivotal role, you will lead and manage high-impact capital projects—including transmission and substation initiatives—that are critical to our mission of delivering reliable, sustainable energy to our communities. When you join our Project Delivery team, you will help maintain and enhance infrastructure, ensuring reliable service to customers and supporting the community's needs. RESPONSIBILITIES: - Responsible for project management of energy related projects across Minnesota Power from inception through to closeout ensuring all required documentation is developed and archived.
- Lead project teams and contribute to scope, schedule, and budget development. Perform administrative work relating to projects and assignments.
- Successfully deliver projects within scope, schedule and budget constraints.
- Ensure timely procurement of materials and services to support project delivery timelines.
- Report on project status keeping stakeholders updated on schedule, budget and risks.
- Work with construction managers and other stakeholders to develop and implement project execution strategies.
- Manage project resources to include engineering, budgeting, safety, environmental and permitting, security and construction.
- This position will work with teams including engineering consultants, contractors, and company employees to implement projects.
- Actively engage in all project phases from conceptualization through construction and commissioning with time spent both in office and in the field.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: - Bachelor's degree PLUS five years or more experience in project management, project development, engineering, construction, and/or a related field required.
OR - Associate degree PLUS seven years or more experience in project management, project development, engineering, construction, and/or a related field required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: - This position may be considered for a hybrid work arrangement based on ALLETE's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the employee's position will be a blend of work performed both in-person and at an offsite location such as an employee's home office. This position will report to Duluth, MN.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
- Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP), or other relevant Project Management Institute (PMI) certification program preferred.
- Electric utility, infrastructure, or industrial fields experience preferred.
- Requires decisive decision-making skills, knowledge, and experience in own discipline while still acquiring higher level knowledge and skills.
- Requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively build and maintain internal and external working relationships.
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex projects from inception to completion.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and collaborative.
- This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: - The expected annual compensation range for this position is $82,000 - $102,000. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will vary depending on relevant knowledge, skills, training, experience, and market conditions.
