Purpose of Position: The main purpose of the shipping loader operator is to maintain an accurate inventory by utilizing our inventory systems in place such as crystal reports, scanners, order profiles and pick lists. Operators will use propane powered forklifts to perform most job duties. Other duties will include but are not limited to sweeping and maintaining clean work environment, inspecting and repackaging damaged units, verifying tickets for orders, and offloading/handling all company products. | 1. Use forklift to load/unload trucks and railcars. 2. Finish railcars by safely securing cables and doors. 3. Stage and prep orders of plywood and veneer according to sales orders for shipments. 4. Manage inventory by shipping oldest products first and combining jags. 5. Send emails to company staff as needed. 6. Use computer and Microsoft programs to process orders, manage supporting shipping tools, and maintain accurate inventory levels. 7. Accurately identify products/tags on all products according to company specs/guidelines. 8. Inspect units and repackage/repair as needed. This includes combining jags. 9. Communicate with leadership and team members about job hazards and resources needed. 10. Maintain cleanliness of shipping warehouse and other areas of the mill as needed or assigned by manager. Non Essential Functions: These duties are secondary in nature and are not classified as ADA essential. | 1. The worker may be responsible for cleanup activity during down time, changeovers or between shifts. This activity will consist of removing veneer scraps/debris from the work area using a broom, rake or shovel. 2. The worker may be required to rotate to different positions for cross training purposes or to facilitate production. Job duties for other positions are outlined in their individual job descriptions. 3. Assist with Finish End Department drivers as needed. 4. Assist Co-Workers or maintenance personnel in basic maintenance and upkeep of forklift. 5. Communicate quality issues identified on products to shipping manager immediately. 6. Other job duties as assigned.

Working Environment: (1) Inside 20%, average temperature 80 degrees, extreme low temperature 10 degrees F, extreme high temperature 105 degrees F. (2) Outside 80%. Noise or vibration: Machine noise to include machine being operated as well as other machines close by including Forklifts. Hazards: See Job Hazard Analysis. (3) Atmospheric conditions: Dust: Limited, Mist: Water, Odors: Dry wood, Gasses: None, Poor Ventilation: None. The worker in this position will be standing on a wooden or metal surface with rubber mats on a slightly elevated platform.
Physical Demands: See the attached Job/Task Evaluation and Physical Capabilities portion; this position requires constant use of hearing and vision, frequent pushing/pulling and reaching, and occasional lifting/carrying/ more than 35 lbs.
Skills: Must be a trained and certified forklift driver; able to load plywood/veneer in an efficient and highly organized manner with minimal damage. Be familiar with various plywood layups. Organization and time management skills are required. Must be constantly aware of his/her surroundings. Forklift operator communicates with others via face-to-face communication. Work with little supervision. Must be self-directed in identifying and efficiently completing each next task. Work with computers and multiple Microsoft products.
