PRIMARY PURPOSE/GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Director of Career Planning & Resources, the Temporary Career Counselor provides career counseling services for students and alums at Scripps College. The College is hiring for two Temporary Career Counselor positions.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in counseling, student development, higher education, or related field preferred, or any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the job. Master’s degree in related field is preferred.

HOURS & CLASSIFICATION AND STATUS:
This is a temporary status, part-time (no more than 16 hours per week), non-benefits-eligible, non-exempt position.
This position is expected to end on or before May 15, 2026, and may be extended based upon mutual agreement by both parties.
The regular hours for this position will be determined by mutual agreement based on the candidate’s availability and the needs of the department. Regular business hours are Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., and the schedule will be set within these timeframes. Hours may vary based on the needs of the College or department.
Hourly rate range: $28.00-$30.00. The hourly rate of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
