RSi is looking to fill an Engineering Technician III (Service Contract Act (SCA) Occupation Code 30082) position to support our NASA customer on the Marshall Engineering Technicians and Trades Support contract (METTS). This position is in direct support of the Structural Strength Test Branch on Marshall Space Flight Center by providing technical support to engineers.
This position may require occasional overtime and may include second or third shift support for 24/7 onsite or on-call support based on customer needs and contract requirements.Summary of duties include but are not limited to:Assembling space flight test articlesFollowing specific instructions, assembles or constructs simple or standard equipment or parts, servicing or repairing simple instruments or equipmentPerforming routine maintenance, installation/integration of various types of mechanical and instrumentation components such as strain gauges, pressure transducers, thermocouples, load cells, hydraulic actuators, tubing, etc.Conducting a variety of tests using established methods, preparing test specimens, adjusting and operating equipment, recording test data, and pointing out deviations resulting from equipment malfunction or observational errorsExtracting engineering data from various prescribed but nonstandardized sources, processing the data following well-defined methods including elementary algebra and geometry, and presenting the data in prescribed formInstrumentation applications, data collection and analysis, network maintenance, electrical assembly, soldering, crimping, fabricating various types of cables/connectorsAssisting with specialized handling, transportation, operation of one of a kind test articles and associated componentsConducts various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement, selecting, preparing, and operating standard test equipment and records test dataInterfacing directly with MSFC customers, technicians, and other test team membersRequired Minimum Education/Experience/Certifications:
High school diploma or GEDPractical knowledge of science or engineeringPractical knowledge of mathematicsAbility to work from written and verbal instructionsPreferred Experience/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/IT Skills/Certifications:
Associate degree or High School diploma and/or 3 years equivalent technical experienceExperience should include a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems for personal computers and MS Office productsExperience with forklifts, aerial lifts, and bridge cranesGood communication (written and verbal) skillsMust be dependable and flexible Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and workmanshipExperience reading and understanding specifications and detailed work instructionsWork Environment:Must meet eligibility for a Public Trust background investigation for government issues credentials and IT access/applicants must be able to pass a security background check per Redstone Arsenal/MSFC requirements. You will be required to provide two (2) forms of Federal I9 documents. You will be required to provide a REAL ID compliant identification to gain access to RSA and MSFC. Your name must match on both forms of ID, be original (no copies/digital), and be unexpired.
