Job Summary

The Instrumentation Engineer will work with ateam of engineers, drafters, and other disciplines to ensure the integrateddesign deliverables meet project requirements. This will include reviewing andunderstanding client provided specifications and all applicable codes andstandards.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Preparation of Control System Philosophy andNarrative documents;

Preparation of instrument data sheets;

Perform instrumentation cable sizingcalculations and selection;

Sizing of primary control system elements suchas PLC controllers, digital/analog input and output cards, switches,relays/contactors, and terminal blocks;

Preparation and review of test and commissioning procedures;

Work with the instrumentation design team inpreparing construction drawings depicting wiring, tray layouts, processconnections, and supports;

Preparation of loop sheets, junction boxlayouts, control panel layouts, I/O Lists, Cause & Effect Matrices

Review and checking of vendor packages;

Preparation of fabrication, construction, andinstallation details;

Preparation of design, bid and construction packages

o Provideengineering specifications and support to procurement of equipment, skiddedpackages, control systems and buildings;

o Participatein cost estimate tasks such as developing Bill Of Materials (BOM) and MaterialTake Off (MTO);

o Participatein pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities;

o Participatein factory acceptance testing of packaged equipment and systems;

o Internationaland domestic travel may be required.

Qualifications, Knowledges, Skills andAbilities

• Bachelors Degree in Electrical or Instrument Engineering required;
• Five (5) to ten (10) years experience with the designand implementation of instrumentation and controlssystems for industrial facilities, oil and gas industry, onshore gasprocessing, hydrocarbon storage and transportation, chemical manufacturing orrefining;
• Knowledge of Control Philosophy and Control Logic development;
• Must be familiar with control and safety systems such asAllen Bradley/Rockwell, Yokogawa, ABB, Siemens, or Honeywell;
• Experience with preparing instrument indexes, I/O lists,etc. required;
• Knowledge and experience with appropriate portions ofANSI/NEMA/NFPA/API/UL/ISA/IEEE/IEC codes and standards;
• Ability to work within project centered multi-discipline teams;
• Demonstrated experience managing multiple work scopes;
• Advance technical writing skills with the ability toeffectively verbalize technical information;
• Basic Microsoft Office skills with proficiency in Excel required;
• Requires the ability and availability to work overtimeand the ability to travel to offsite (including offshore) locations (mayrequire multi-day trips);
• Ability to interact with staff at all levels.
• Experience in an Electrical Engineering role includingelectrical design with regard to power generation, distribution, protection andrelated controls systems is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• P.E.license preferred;
• Experience working inhazard analysis teams (HAZOP, HAZAN, HAZID)preferred;
• Experience in the useand application of IEC 61511 for Safety Systems preferred.

Working Conditions

• Workis primarily conducted in an office environment (Private or Semi-Privateoffice) but may require occasional travel to off-site work locations;
• Fieldduties may require outdoor work in a plant;
• Interactionwith other team members, as well as supervisors and client personnel;Working offshore or inplant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels;
• Must be able to wearsafety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection;
• Maybe at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes;
• May be required to travel out of town on aperiodic basis.
