Job Description

Material Handler Job Duties

  1. Receiving and Unloading


  • Unload incoming shipments from trucks or delivery vehicles.


  • Verify shipments against purchase orders and delivery paperwork for accuracy.


  1. Material Movement and Storage


  • Transport materials to designated storage areas using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment.


  • Organize and store materials in an orderly manner to maximize space and accessibility.


  1. Order Picking and Packing


  • Retrieve items from storage locations based on order requests.


  • Pack items securely to ensure safe transport and prepare them for shipping.


  1. Inventory Management


  • Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.


  • Monitor stock levels and report shortages or overstock to supervisors.


  1. Documentation and Tracking


  • Record material movements in warehouse management systems (WMS).


  • Maintain accurate logs of incoming and outgoing shipments.


  1. Quality Control


  • Inspect materials for damage or defects upon receipt and during handling.


  • Report damaged goods to supervisors for further action.


  1. Equipment Operation


  • Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, conveyor belts, and other material-handling equipment.


  • Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment to ensure functionality.


  1. Shipping and Staging


  • Assist in preparing materials for shipment by labeling and staging them in loading areas.


  • Coordinate with shipping teams to ensure accurate and timely dispatch of orders.


  1. Safety and Compliance


  • Follow safety guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries in the workplace.


  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and report any safety concerns.


  1. Workplace Organization


  • Maintain a clean and organized work area by disposing of waste and clearing obstructions.


  • Assist in keeping aisles, storage racks, and staging areas orderly.


  1. Collaboration


  • Communicate with warehouse team members to coordinate material handling tasks.


  • Work closely with supervisors to meet operational goals.


  1. Other Duties as Assigned


  • Perform additional tasks as required , such as assisting in loading trucks or supporting other warehouse functions.
