Summary/Objective:

Responsible for processing multiple payrolls with knowledge in federal, state, and company policies to ensure employees are paid accurately and in a timely manner. Ensures employee data is entered accurately in Viewpoint system. Communicates with and responds to staff regarding inquiries related to payroll.

Essential Functions:

  • Reviews, audits, and analyzes timekeeping system for accuracy and completeness.
  • Applies federal, state wage and hour laws along with company policies and procedures to ensure payroll is properly administered
  • Imports time using multiple time-tracking systems
  • Processes timecard data using Viewpoint payroll software program
  • Runs and reconciles payroll reports to ensure accuracy of time data as well as proper earnings distribution
  • Analyzes tasks/requests to determine appropriate course of action in a timely manner
  • Authenticates employee data into Viewpoint, including new hire setup, status changes, terminations, pay increases, etc.
  • Processes payroll deduction payments, garnishments, taxes, liens, child support deductions and completes miscellaneous payroll reports
  • Pays various withholding taxes and submits tax filings to proper jurisdictions
  • Responds to verification of employment and salary requests
  • May counsel employees where special payroll problems are involved
  • Prepares miscellaneous reports for various departments and organizations
  • Pays employee referrals, retention and sign-on bonus
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility: No

Required:

  • 2+ years payroll experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Excel
  • Knowledge of computerized time keeping and payroll systems such as Viewpoint
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask effectively with changing priorities under tight deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Must adhere to all company policy and procedures
  • Must be available to work assigned schedules and extended hours as needed including day, evening, weekend, and holiday hours
  • Attention to detail and strict adherence to confidentiality

The work environment and physical demands required would be representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, and may include, but are not limited to the following:

Work Environment:

  • Works in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment
  • Position may require visits to construction site

Physical Demands:

  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopier, filing cabinets and fax machines

Travel:

  • May require infrequent travel (typically not overnight)

Preferred:

  • FPC or CPP certification
  • Associates degree in related field highly desired
  • Experience in Viewpoint
  • Prior military experience
