Lift Station Technician

Job Description

 

Position Summary:

In this field-based position, the Lift Station Repair Technician is responsible for performing service and repair to sewage pump stations. This position involves electrical and plumbing tasks as well as confined space entry. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs maintenance, replacement, and repair of lift station equipment

  • Troubleshooting equipment malfunctions and performing repairs

  • Assist in the installation, cleaning, maintenance, repair, and or rebuild of the mechanical equipment found in sewerage pump stations

  • Performs diagnostic test to determine operating efficiency of equipment, permit and other document readings, and prepares reports

  • Maintenance and repair of electrical control panels

  • Responds to trouble alarms during normal working hours and after hours

  • Work within confined spaces such as manholes, or wet wells

  • Work may be performed in Confined Spaces

  • Working on a on call rotation schedule which may include (nights, weekends, holidays)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to enter and work in confined spaces as defined by OSHA regulations up to 40 feet below ground

  • Climb ladders; work at heights up to 20’

  • Lift and move up to 65 pounds.

  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.

  • Ability to understand instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. 

  • Demonstrated working knowledge and experience using tools and testing equipment applicable to pump station maintenance, including basic knowledge of electrical controls.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents including Company policies and procedures, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, maps and road signs.

  • Ability to speak, cooperate and communicate effectively with customers, co-workers and management.

  • Ability to work independently and manage pressure to meet deadlines.

  • Basic computer literacy including email and internet skills.

  • Ability to perform basic math functions.

  • Five or more years of experience performing lift station maintenance and repairs preferred.

  • Driver's license required, in good standing

  • Previous experience working with electrical components (pumps, alarms, control panels)

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $25.00 - $35.00 hourly at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.
