Quality Technician I /2nd Shift

Job Description

Summary:

The Quality Technician I is responsible for performing timely quality checks on raw materials, work-in-process, and finished products. This includes inspection, laboratory analysis, organoleptic evaluation, and verification of packaging quality to ensure product consistency and compliance with food safety standards.

 

Functions Of The Position.

  • Conducts analysis on processing and packaging goods, including visual inspection, organoleptic evaluation, weight, size, mix, moisture, water activity, and salt testing.

  • Tests packaging integrity and quality (oxygen, vacuum, leaker, quantity, weight)

  • Verifies product type, label accuracy, date codes, lids, and over-cap color

  • Conducts metal detector compliance testing, ATP testing for sanitation verification, and pre-operational inspections of packaging lines

  • Enters analytical data, product holds, and equipment checkout information.

  • Prepares samples for analysis in coordination with the R&D laboratory.

  • Places products on hold when results fall outside specification.

 

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Food quality experience required.

 

Skills and Competencies

  • Ability to taste snack products and nut varieties.

  • Strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping.

  • Basic math proficiency.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds and stand for extended periods.

  • Ability to operate calculators, analytical scales, salt/moisture/oxygen analyzers, water activity meters, and color meters.

  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders.

  • Ability to work in high-temperature environments.
