As a Lead Electrical Engineer here at Honeywell, you will play a key role in leading and managing facility electrical engineering projects within our engineering test services organization. You will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems supporting our engines and power systems customers. The lead engineer will provide technical expertise, guidance, and support to the team, ensuring the successful execution of projects. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to drive innovation, improve processes, and achieve project objectives.
You will report directly to the engineering manager and you’ll work out of our Phoenix Engines location on a hybrid 3/2 work schedule.

Responsibilities Key Responsibilities - Architect, develop and test well-structured PLC programs for new and existing equipment using best practices and guidelines established by Honeywell. This would include troubleshooting/modifying/fixing facility control systems (FCS) and human machine interfaces (HMI) and then documenting changes.
- Provide technical leadership, guidance, and learning for junior engineers
- Define controls system requirements and develop detailed functional specifications
- Lead implementation and testing of new systems including troubleshooting of software, electrical and mechanical issues working side-by-side with internal teams
- The ability to use AutoCAD Electrical to support/revise current designs and create new designs that will be fabricated into hardware. The designs will be composed of the following: block diagrams, system/control interconnects, internal panel layouts, cable and harness assemblies, bill of material (BOM) and test/configuration instructions.
- Be able to create clear detailed documentation to support the operation, maintenance and repair of designed equipment and software.
- Able to Lead and aid in the troubleshooting of various electrical/electronic issues, including generators, utilizing analytical thinking. The ability to properly use test equipment such as digital multimeters (DMM), oscilloscopes, milliohm meters and hi-pot testers.
- Willing to respond quickly with quality solutions to support our customer’s needs.
Qualifications YOU MUST HAVE - BS/MS Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in engineering related to electrical and facility control systems
- Must be a US Citizen due to contractual requirements
- 8+ years PLC programming experience with multiple hardware platforms
- Emerson, Allen-Bradley, Phoenix Contact and Automation Direct preferred
- Must be able to demonstrate ability to write software using an object-oriented approach utilizing function blocks or add-on instructions. Be able to program in Ladder Logic.
- Must have experience architecting and writing software from scratch.
- A work ethic that places safety and quality as the highest priorities. Proven ability to work with minimal direction in a cross-functional team environment.
- Good communication skills, both oral and written, with our customers.
- Experience as a Technical leader and designer. Working knowledge of industry electrical standards (UL508A, NFPA79, IEC, NEC).
WE VALUE - Professional Engineer License in Electrical or Control Systems Engineering
- Experience with various programing languages including NI LabVIEW.
