POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for preparation of all foods served to the patients and cafeteria patrons, according to appropriate recipes and production sheets. The Cook is also responsible for cleaning the work area in accordance with the Department of Health requirements. This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to team work and cooperation. QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required. Ability to read and speak English is required. Culinary arts training preferred.

EXPERIENCE: 1 -2 years food preparation experience within healthcare required.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

Demonstrates the technical competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury. Requires frequent standing, reaching and stooping, as well as pushing and lifting moderately heavy to heavy things, up to 100 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. Requires working in adverse conditions such as: wet floors, extreme change of temperature, sharp/dangerous equipment, and hot foods and liquids. The essential functions for this position are listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

This position reports to the Food Production Manager at the Mainland division and reports to the Food Services Supervisor at the City division.
