Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Accountant II prepares financial statements for internal and external users. Responsibilities also include preparation of month-end and year-end close, recording journal entries with proper support and documentation, analyzing and reconciling general ledger accounts, and providing variance commentary. The position ensures accuracy and consistency of financial and statistical information and reports organizations finances to management, offers suggestions about resource utilization, and assumptions underlying budget forecasts. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks and works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance required.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

EXPERIENCE:Minimum 2 years accounting experience in medium to large-size company, preferably Healthcare. The candidate should also have a strong understanding of GAAP accounting concepts as well as extensive computer experience with Microsoft Office including advanced knowledge of Excel

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

Demonstrates the ability to perform the department specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury. This position requires desk and computer work a majority of the day with frequent standing and walking and reaching.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

This position reports to the Director of Financial Reporting Corporate Accounting.
