Job Description

SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE:

Assist the Inventory Control and Cost Manager with daily duties of, receiving, inspecting, and storing of goods received.  Assist and backup the Production Control Clerk with running reports, gathering and input of data in order to complete A/E’s and weekly and monthly forecasting, prepare mill and production schedules.  


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspect all incoming raw materials as well as Warehouse and Maintenance Supplies for obvious visual damage, including packaging and banding
  • Verify that the shipment description and count matches the physical material received
  • Verify that the shipment is properly identified with visible markings
  • Verify that all required documentation is accompanying the shipment, such as mill test reports and certificates of compliance, as applicable
  • Work with Quality Control Department in ensuring all required documentation is complete
  • Process goods receipts transactions in SAP after items are inspected
  • Ensure all shipping’s documents are scanned for Accounts Payable backup
  • Maintain a complete and accurate filing system of all original receiving documents
  • Prepare shipments for UPS, FedEx, and LTL Carriers
  • Hand out warehouse supplies to manufacturing departments
  • Assist Inventory Control and Cost Manager with end of year inventory reports
  • Per ISO requirements, ID, collect, index, access, file, store and maintain controlled production documents listed in with P-4.2.3 Control of Documents and P-4.2.4 Control of Records.


SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the quarterly performance of cycle count and annual physical inventory process
  • Management reports
  • ZPLR weekly/monthly report
  • Variance report on production orders
  • Enter receiving information into SAP for products received by NWP
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor
  • Serve as backup for Production Coordinator and other Production Control Clerks

 

 

JOB SCOPE:

  • Under the general guidance of the Inventory Control and Cost Manager, this position assists in maintaining production records, reports and files. 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position.

 

INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:

  • This position may interact within all levels of the Northwest Pipe organization.  Additionally, this position may have contact with business partners, customers, vendors, visitors and / or government agencies.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Ability to perform difficult typing duties
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and plant personnel
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office Suite
  • SAP
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Familiarity with office equipment

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Walking can include traveling throughout a 100 acre facility with dirt roads and uneven ground. 
  • Project timelines and work volume / deadlines may often require working outside of standard office hours, weekend or evening work, and travel to complete essential duties of this job.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle or to have transportation available to accomplish essential job duties and related travel.
  • Must have mental processes for complex reasoning, remembering, mathematics and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and to solve problems involving several variables.
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate necessary equipment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is normally moderate.
  • Walking can include traveling throughout a 100 acre facility with dirt roads and uneven ground.  In the course of a normal day additional physical activities can include bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling, twisting, reaching, writing, typing and use of hands to finger. 


Individuals in this position will be in a climate controlled environment lighting with traditional office equipment as found in any typical office environment.  Individual duties are primarily sedentary.
