Staff Tennis Professional - Junior and Adult Programming

Fairfax Racquet Club is seeking an energetic, dependable tennis professional to join our year-round coaching team.

The foundation of this hourly position will be regularly scheduled Junior Program group classes. The club will also help qualified coaches build and coordinate a schedule of private lessons, adult clinics, camps, and other teaching opportunities around those core hours.

This position is ideal for a coach seeking consistent programming hours and the opportunity to develop a substantial year-round teaching schedule within an active racquet club.

Responsibilities

• Teach Junior Program classes for players of varying ages and ability levels
• Provide energetic, positive, and development-focused instruction
• Design lesson plans within the Junior Program’s general themes and developmental pathway
• Teach private lessons, adult clinics, camps, and other programming as opportunities become available
• Collaborate with other professionals in a team-oriented coaching environment
• Communicate professionally with players, parents, coaches, and club management
• Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging on-court environment

Coaches will have the freedom to bring their own teaching style and lesson ideas while remaining aligned with the program’s overall developmental objectives.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will:

• Have previous tennis coaching or teaching experience
• Enjoy working with beginner and intermediate players, as well as more advanced players
• Be comfortable teaching both juniors and adults
• Be energetic, enthusiastic, reliable, and professional
• Work effectively as part of a coaching team
• Have weekday afternoon/evening availability, with weekend availability preferred
• Play at approximately the NTRP 4.0 level or higher

RSPA or PTR certification, college playing or coaching experience, and junior-development experience are preferred but not required.

Successful candidates must complete required background screening and Safe Play requirements.

Compensation and Schedule

This is a year-round, hourly position. Compensation is competitive and based on experience, qualifications, certifications, and teaching assignment.

Primary hours will come from weekday afternoon/evening and weekend Junior Program classes. Additional private, adult, and camp hours may be built around that schedule with support from the club.
