The Office of the Dean in the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences is seeking a Graduate Administrator in the Graduate Studies office. The Graduate Administrator is a key staff member and will act as a liaison between the Office of Graduate Studies and one or more academic departments. The incumbent will develop, maintain, and share expertise about department, school, and university policies and procedures. They will oversee all aspects of graduate administration in the assigned department(s), including but not limited to: providing administrative support for graduate recruitment and admissions, maintaining up-to-date graduate student files, monitoring and supporting graduate student academic progress, coordinating graduate student appointments, and managing graduate student communications. In collaboration with the graduate administration team, the incumbent will seek to assess and improve administrative functioning on an ongoing basis.
The successful candidate will be highly organized, attentive to detail, skilled in time management, adept in communication, comfortable learning and using different informational technologies, and passionate about supporting students as they continue their education.
Advises students and prospective students on admissions, financial aid, academic requirements, career development, and/or campus activities. Coordinates school-wide academic advising and peer mentoring programs. Implements program activities and works with Admissions and Career Services to provide quality program information and administer multiple types of information sessions. Corresponds with those seeking admissions standards and academic and non-academic programs. Assists with special projects and trains lower level employees, students, and volunteers.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, excellent verbal and written communication between faculty, staff, and students.
Generally sedentary. Some stooping, bending, lifting, light walking are required.
