Job Description

As a Patient Care Technician, you will be an integral part of our patient care team, working closely with licensed personnel to deliver direct and indirect patient care. Your responsibilities will include assisting patients with personal care needs, participating in their plan of care, and regularly communicating observations and data to the Clinical Associate. Additionally, you may be required to perform limited laboratory services, ensuring accurate specimen collection and processing.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with personal care needs and participate in their plan of care.
  • Communicate observations and data to the Clinical Associate.
  • Collect and process test specimens as directed.
  • Perform limited laboratory services, including patient identification, sample preparation, and quality control testing.
  • Monitor, record, and report test results to clinicians, including critical values.
  • Maintain confidentiality and respect for patients at all times.
  • Work collaboratively as part of the care team to meet patient needs and support team objectives.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, prioritize tasks, and use good judgment in challenging situations.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Attend regular training sessions to stay updated on best practices and new procedures.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory within 30 days of hire.
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training is required within 1 year of hire or transfer.
  • Ability to speak and write English fluently.
  • Bilingual candidates are preferred.
  • At least 8 weeks of Patient Care education or direct patient care experience is necessary.
  • Enrolled in a nursing school or physician assistant program is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
  • Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with team members.
  • Proficiency in Clinical Applications is preferred, with training provided after hire.
