Overview
The Senior Technical Engineer will provide technical and operational support for internal and external customers, as well as leadership for the operations team in the form of engineering expertise to support the assigned department(s) and dedicated projects. This may include process improvement, manage CAPEX expenditures, project management, validation of product and manufacturing equipment as required.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Applied Sciences or relevant field required.
- Minimum 6 years’ experience in an engineering field required.
- An advanced engineering degree may substitute for one year of applicable experience.
Job Responsibilities
- Identify the need for, create, and prioritize projects including capital acquisitions, process changes, and knowledge transfer. Develop and execute projects to completion, including proper documentation and reporting.
- Responsible for the innovation and validation of new processes, the improvement of current processes, and the reduction of process variability.
- Research, specify, acquire, evaluate, and validate fabricated or purchased equipment. Track validation data. Create comparison reports and perform statistical analysis of equipment functions and of material produced on such equipment, as necessary. Present results to applicable staff, as requested.
- Engage and provide technical support with customers to determine the needs, specifications, development options and support sales in quotes during the development of new products when needed.
- Create or edit work instructions and training scripts for new processes, materials, and equipment.
- Mentor and train Engineering Technicians and Engineering Interns.
- Remain current with a detailed understanding of agency and regulatory requirements, customer products and the competition. Research and evaluate new technologies for use in current and future products. Periodically conduct updates on these topics for the global sales force.
- Conduct Capability Analysis on development products to refine process or provide recommendations to Process Engineering for improvement.
- Conceptualize new ideas/designs through computer modeling.
- Construct Design of Experiments (DOE) and other analysis tools and methods as needed if applicable.
- Apply statistical analysis to new product development activities to understand underlying trends and refine design or processes if applicable.
- May be asked to teach Wire Institute courses.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.

- Presentation skills. This includes demonstrated technical presentations to FWM Training courses, monthly refresh meetings, customer calls, community presentations, etc.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Fast-paced production environment.
- Exposure to processing aids and cleaning solutions and time spent working around machinery.
- Must be able to travel between various facilities.
- Must be able to access all areas of operation, including second floors.
- Occasional lifting approximately 60 pounds.
- Pulling, squatting, and standing for long periods of time.
