Lead Project Software Engineer

Job Description

You will report directly to Sr Software Engineering Manager and you’ll work out of our Phoenix, Arizona location on a Hybrid work schedule.

In this role, you will impact the successful execution and delivery of engineering projects, driving operational excellence, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in our Aerospace business.

Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking an Engineering Program Operations Coordinator to support onsite execution across software and systems teams within the nFMS program. This role focuses on global team coordination, metrics ownership, cross‑functional alignment, and maintaining day‑to‑day execution flow across engineering teams. Candidates with experience in project engineering, Agile/Scrum coordination, or technical program operations are encouraged to apply.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the planning and coordination of safety‑critical embedded software activities in alignment with program and certification expectations.
  • Help define and maintain clarity on software scope, requirements, deliverables, and interfaces with systems, V&V, safety, and program teams.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining engineering schedules, resource forecasts, and plans that reflect integration and verification needs.
  • Drive daily coordination across the software Integrated Product Team (IPT), the cross‑functional group responsible for software execution, alignment, and day‑to‑day delivery flow.
  • Monitor internal software KPIs and performance trends to identify emerging risks, quality issues, or resource mismatches.
  • Analyze engineering data to detect patterns such as requirement churn or utilization shifts and escalate insights with recommended actions.
  • Support review of key software artifacts for completeness, traceability, and readiness for internal or customer reviews.
  • Coordinate software risks, requirement changes, integration challenges, and certification‑related issues to ensure timely mitigation.
  • Represent the software IPT in customer and internal leadership connects with clear, data‑driven status and risk visibility.
  • Support routine PE‑Ops activities including daily progress tracking, weekly status consolidation, and monthly milestone readiness reviews.
  • Partner with PMO and CAMs by providing schedule, progress, and risk inputs needed for cost, scope, and schedule alignment activities.


Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS — YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 8+ years coordinating or supporting embedded software development or engineering execution in regulated or structured environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to support delivery of engineering work packages on schedule, within scope, and aligned with program commitments.
  • Strong end‑to‑end SDLC understanding with the ability to track progress, anticipate risks, and maintain disciplined execution.
  • Experience identifying and coordinating mitigation of software‑related risks, requirement changes, or integration challenges.
  • Familiarity with requirements, defect, and configuration workflows used in embedded or software development.
  • Experience using common engineering or project tools such as Jira or similar trackers and spreadsheets/dashboards for metrics.
  • Ability to present engineering status, risks, and insights clearly to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Working knowledge of verification and validation practices including test planning, execution, defect analysis, and closure.
