ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Medical Transcription
Types quickly and accurately- Minimum 60 words per minute.
Demonstrates excellent medical terminology skills Reviews work with pathologists to ensure accuracy.
Specimen Processing
Accessions specimens by verifying patient and specimen identification. Always utilizes two forms of patient identification.
Assigns correct levels for charging purposes.
Basic standard histologic specimen processing is performed which meet or exceed the requirements of the pathologist.
Record and Specimen
Retention Specimens and slides are kept in accordance to the laboratory's Record Retention Policy.
Records and slides are kept in a clean, safe environment and prompt retrieval of records or slides is possible when needed.
Office Management
Works in close collaboration with pathologist, histologists, and department director.
Maintains all patient reports in a neat, retrievable manner. Ensures that reports are distributed to meet client needs. Correspondence Sends out letters of correspondence and specimen slides.
Ensures that replies are received and that final reports are completed for pathologist signature.

Pathology Module Maintenance
Builds and maintains LIS Pathology modules.
Ensure uploading of historical date.
Attending user group sessions.
Participate in all product system upgrades.
Provide capability to rapidly retrieve patient reports.

Pay Range:
$21.00 - $28.26The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
Anna Jaques Hospital is a 123 bed community hospital serving 17 cities and towns in the Merrimack Valley . The hospital offers a wide range of acute care services to meet the needs of our growing patient population including inpatient and outpatient surgery in fully digitized computerized operating room suites, cardiology including echocardiography and a cardiac cath lab, comprehensive cancer services, orthopedics, nuclear medicine, laboratory, noninvasive vascular lab, joint replacement program and birth center.
Programs include the number one wound center in the nation, a primary stroke service, and Level III Trauma Center . Diagnostic imaging services for patients include MRI, CT, PET, and the PACS digital x-ray system. The hospitals Non Invasive Vascular laboratory was accredited by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL).

The Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Center is the only such center to receive full accreditation from the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS) in Massachusetts .
