Downstream Compression Integrity Specialist

Job Description

As our Downstream Compression Integrity Specialist, you’ll be at the heart of repair shop operations through driving preventative maintenance, solving complex equipment challenges, and elevating quality across every job!

What You Will Do:

Design & Drawing Documentation

  • Execute design integration of new components into existing reciprocating compressor installations, ensuring alignment with engineering standards and customer specifications.
  • Develop and propose fits, tolerances, and design changes for engineering review; document rationale and communicate outcomes clearly.
  • Define and select components, assemblies, or systems that meet Cooper’s standards and program or product requirements.
  • Create new Bills of Materials (BOMs) tailored to specific customer installations. Modify existing BOMs and drawings to support product revisions, field-identified discrepancies, or engineering enhancements.
  • Process Engineering Work Requests, incorporating all necessary drawing and BOM updates with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Collaborate with Cooper’s drafting resources to ensure new and revised drawings are accurate, legible, and current.
  • Prepare and communicate technical data packages to support internal engineering teams and external customers.
  • Ensure Cooper’s drawings and engineering standards are maintained to the highest level of accuracy and legibility.

Quality Inspection & Assurance

  • Perform dimensional, visual, and applicable NDT inspections on reciprocating compressor components and assemblies during shop repair and overhaul.
  • Execute and document as-found and as-left condition assessments using precision measurement tools including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and feeler gauges.
  • Identify, document, and disposition non-conformances; initiate and track Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs) through to resolution.
  • Serve as the quality authority for shop repair jobs — with accept/reject sign-off responsibility on repaired components and assemblies.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable quality management systems (ISO 9001), ASME codes, and customer-specific quality requirements.
  • Generate and maintain job packages including work orders, inspection records, repair documentation, and quality certifications.

Cross-Functional Support

  • Assist engineering teams in preparing technical data for internal and external customers.
  • Participate in teams addressing specific organizational initiatives or process improvement efforts.

  • 3-5 years of demonstrated hands-on experience with reciprocating compressor systems in a shop repair, overhaul, or petrochemical/refinery maintenance environment is required in lieu of a degree.

  • Proven ability to read, interpret, and redline mechanical engineering drawings and assembly schematics.
  • Hands-on experience creating or modifying Bills of Materials (BOMs) and processing engineering change documentation.
  • Proficiency with precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges) and dimensional inspection methods.
  • Working knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001) and non-conformance documentation practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) for documentation, reporting, and communication.

Preferred:

  • API 510 and/or API 570 certification, or active progress toward certification.
