ADULT SERVICES LIBRARIAN (PART-TIME)

Job Description:

The Springfield Free Public Library seeks an enthusiastic, customer-focused, and dependable Adult Services Librarian to join our team to staff our Information Desk on a part-time basis. The schedule would include one evening per week (preferably Wednesday evening), approximately every third Saturday, and occasional Sundays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist patrons with their informational, reference, and technology needs.
• Provide reference and readers' advisory services and answer informational questions using print and digital resources.
• Assist patrons with the library catalog, databases, e-books, online resources, public computers, printers, copiers, and other library technology.
• Place holds and facilitate requests through the statewide interlibrary loan (ILL) system.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited program preferred; MLS/MLIS students will be considered.
• Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Comfort with current and emerging technologies.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Salary & Benefits

$36.19 per hour, in accordance with NJLA's recommended minimum salary guidelines. The position also offers paid sick time in accordance with New Jersey state law and paid vacation time based on hours worked.
