As a Lead Software Engineer at Honeywell, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and guidance to a team of software engineers, driving the development of high-quality software solutions.
Responsibilities Key Responsibilities - Lead the software team responsible for FMS Performance (PERF) functionality across multiple FMS product lines.
- Perform system and software requirements analysis.
- Execute requirements decomposition for complex avionics features.
- Own and drive software architecture and design for PERF-related capabilities.
- Lead software development, integration, and delivery of safety‑critical avionics functions.
- Coordinate system-level integration activities with cross‑functional teams.
- Define new FMS PERF features and ensure alignment with program and customer needs.
- Support customer interactions, technical discussions, and issue resolution.
- Lead system verification and validation efforts for PERF functionality.
- Demonstrate proficiency in multiple programming languages used in avionics development.
- Apply strong analytical and software engineering skills to solve complex problems.
Qualifications YOU MUST HAVE - Master’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
- 12+ years of experience developing safety‑critical avionics software (DO‑178 preferred).
- Experience working with or supporting an aircraft OEM (e.g., Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, Dassault, Gulfstream, etc.).
WE VALUE - Prior experience working on FMS Performance (PERF) and Guidance (GUID functions such as weight and balance, takeoff/landing data, fuel predictions, vertical path computations, and performance optimization.
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle for avionics systems.
- Experience with software configuration management and change management processes.
- Ability to rapidly analyze and apply new concepts or information.
- Demonstrated leadership in global or cross‑functional teams.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical ideas clearly.
- Proven capability to make timely, well‑reasoned decisions in complex environments.
- Experience working with aircraft OEM requirements, certification processes, or integration workflows.
- Experience with Airbus FMS is an advantage (not mandatory).
