Punch Press Operator

Job Description

Job Summary

This position will perform operating duties and contribute to the department as directed by supervisor.

Job Responsibilities   

  • Plan and perform all required duties to set up any capacity punch, mechanical or hydraulic press to perform a wide range of complicated, and at times, unusual blanking, drawing, embossing, bending, punching, piercing and similar press operations on a wide variety of sheet metal parts of various metals (setups may be difficult involving the use of progressive, compound, complex forming and deep drawing dies
  • Check setup to insure tightness of all clamps and bolts
  • Inspect first piece and make any required operational adjustments
  • Instruct operator in proper procedures and methods, safety procedures and other matters affecting his work
  • Determine cause of faulty operation and take necessary steps to correct; perform a variety of similar or associated duties as required or directed
  • As necessitated by workloads or other conditions, or as directed, operate any press on special or production work
  • Detect and report all defective materials, improper operation, and unusual conditions to proper supervision
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
  • Follow prescribed or standard safety regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
