The University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing is seeking qualified applicants for the Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Operations.
This full-time, tenure-stream or appointment-stream faculty position can be appointed at the Assistant, Associate, or full Professor rank. This leadership faculty position will be responsible for the oversight for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN). This position will also support the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge technology driven educational activities.
Faculty responsibilities include teaching, research/scholarship, and service.
Administrative responsibilities will include:
• Provide strategic oversight for undergraduate nursing programs across all campuses, ensuring high academic standards and consistent, effective operations.
• Participate as an active member of the Dean’s Council.
• Maintain full compliance with state and national regulatory and accreditation requirements for nursing education.
• Partner with the External Recruitment and Relations team to attract and retain exceptional faculty members.
• Collaborate with the Associate Dean for Faculty affairs to oversee teaching faculty and staff, including responsibilities related to hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and performance evaluation.
• Collaborate on the development and implementation of strategic initiatives aimed at recruiting and retaining high‑quality undergraduate nursing students.
• Promote the undergraduate nursing program across the Commonwealth through student engagement, recruitment, and outreach activities.
• Develop, administer, and monitor the undergraduate program’s budget to ensure responsible and effective use of resources.
• Represent the undergraduate program in college‑wide and external meetings, serving as a representative with key internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure undergraduate programs attain or exceed standards set by state and national accreditors and regulatory bodies.
• Maintain a high-level knowledge about emerging educational technologies and teaching best practices, integrating innovative tools into teaching-learning practices to enhance instruction and learning experiences.
• Serve on and provide guidance to the BSN Council as an ex-officio member
• Schedule visitation to the branch campuses to provide support
• Participate in the evaluation process for the undergraduate program through student, faculty and community of interest feedback
