Tatnall seeks an energetic Lower School Associate Teacher who values and will prioritize building relationships in the Tatnall community. The Third Grade Associate Teacher supports the lead teacher, as well as parents and students. The ideal candidate is flexible, resourceful, proactive, and has excellent communication skills. This is a dynamic position that is best suited for a team-oriented person with experience working with elementary aged children.
Hours:
Monday-Friday: 7:45 am - 11:45 a.m.
Some evening or afternoon requirements for school-specific events, like conferences or community events
Opportunities to work full day as a substitute
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assist in planning, teaching, evaluating, and supporting students in order to provide a flexible, balanced, and developmentally appropriate curriculum experience for children and their families.
Assist admissions by welcoming families, participating in parent nights, open houses, and social events to promote The Tatnall School.
Assist in communication on a daily, weekly, and monthly schedule with families to foster home and school connections.
Meet regularly with other faculty members and administration in order to be informed, current, and progressive in current education trends.
Assume a primary teaching role in the absence of the teacher or when otherwise appropriate or necessary.
Engage in professional development to further knowledge and awareness of pedagogy, curriculum, technology, and child development.
Completes other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Requirements:
Associate’s degree required; bachelor degree preferred
An appreciation of diversity in all its forms
Knowledge and understanding of cultural competency
A student-centered approach to education
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to work in a lively independent school setting and to work closely and collegially with students, faculty and staff, administrators, and parents
Preferred experience but not required:
Degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education
2 years or more experience working with young children in an educational setting
