Principal Supplier
Development Engineer here at Honeywell, you will play a critical role is responsible for driving the optimization and improvement of our organization's supplier base. This is a remote position reporting to our
Supplier Development Engineering Director. In this role, you will impact our organization by bringing extensive expertise and experience in supplier development. You will play a crucial role in driving supplier performance and ensuring that our suppliers meet the highest quality standards. As the Supplier Development Engineer Principal, you are essential in maintaining strong supplier partnerships, optimizing costs, and ensuring a reliable supply of high-quality products. Your contributions directly impact our organization's operational excellence and overall success.

Responsibilities KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Develop and execute a comprehensive supplier development strategy that aligns with the organization's goals, ensuring the enhancement of supplier performance and capabilities.
- Lead process improvement projects and /or events to streamline supplier performance.
- Develop positive relationships and work closely with Global Sourcing leaders to manage, implement and track supplier/engineering, design changes, capacity studies and New Product Introductions (NPI), and transitions.
- Drive improvements utilizing Lean methodologies, supplier scorecards and supplier assessments.
- Track the supplier’s performance indicators, based on their scorecards and rankings, to facilitate and develop the supply base’s ability to consistently meet or exceed defined expectations.
- Support the manufacturing of complex parts and sub-assemblies by providing technical expertise and support for suppliers.
- Review manufacturing processes to ensure they will yield parts compliant to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Create and participate in PFMEA activities, Work Instruction Improvements, and Control Plan effectiveness with suppliers.
- Drive improvements utilizing Six Sigma methodologies, supplier scorecards and supplier assessments.
- Ensure supplier compliance while driving systematic problem solving and process improvement plans to deliver performance.
- Drive cross functional engagement to remove roadblocks necessary to improve supplier performance.
- Eliminate any risks that will prevent suppliers from meeting performance targets and escalate as needed.
Qualifications YOU MUST HAVE- 10+ years of experience in supplier development, engineering, or a related leadership role.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering
- Proven experience of mentorship, coaching, and super trainer of peers on team.
- Experience working with Aerospace manufacturing suppliers.
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence others.
- Experience in performing production readiness & rate readiness reviews / assessments.
- Ability to interface effectively with all levels of leadership.
- Proven problem-solving skills, including ability to interpret business performance and financial data, define actions, and implement solutions.
- Experience working with global suppliers.
- Willingness to travel, up to 50%+
- Master’s Degree.
- Proximity to Honeywell Aerospace locations such as Tempe, AZ, Phoenix, AZ, Torrance, CA.
- Experience in supplier development and supplier relationship management.
- Experience with project management and Kaizen facilitation.
- Experience with SAP, project management tools, and other business management tools used in Honeywell.
- Able to read technical drawings and documentation (GD&T).
- Effective collaboration skills to motivate and influence others at various levels without a direct reporting relationship.
- Six Sigma Black Belt or Lean Expert Certification or working knowledge of Six sigma / quality Tools and APQP (PFMEA, Control plan, SPC MSA etc.).
- Ability to act with urgency and deliver results.
