As our Registered Dietitian, you will play a vital role in assessing nutritional needs, developing individualized care plans, monitoring outcomes, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure exceptional resident-centered care.
Position SummaryThe Registered Dietitian is responsible for completing nutritional assessments and reviews in accordance with federal and state regulations. This includes initial, quarterly, annual, and significant change assessments, as well as ongoing monitoring of high-risk residents. The Dietitian will work closely with the Dietary Supervisor and interdisciplinary care team to coordinate nutrition services and support optimal resident outcomes.
Essential Responsibilities- Complete nutritional initial, quarterly, annual, and significant change assessments according to federal and state guidelines.
- Conduct monthly nutritional reviews for high-risk residents, including those with:
- Significant weight loss or gain
- Pressure injuries
- Hemodialysis needs
- Tube feeding requirements
- Assess nutritional needs, diet restrictions, and health conditions to develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans.
- Provide nutrition counseling and education to residents and families as appropriate.
- Participate in daily stand-up meetings and interdisciplinary team discussions.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, dialysis dietitians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals regarding resident nutritional needs.
- Monitor dietary services to ensure compliance with nutritional, sanitation, safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Review food preparation methods, temperatures, portion control, food presentation, and service quality.
- Inspect diet trays for accuracy and compliance with physician-ordered diets.
- Assist with the overall supervision and management of dietary staff.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.
QualificationsEducation & Experience- Registered Dietitian (RD) credential preferred, or
- Bachelor's Degree in Food and Nutrition from an accredited program and eligible to sit for the RD examination.
- One year of clinical healthcare experience preferred.
- Completion of an accredited dietetic internship preferred.
- Experience in skilled nursing, rehabilitation, long-term care, or healthcare settings is highly desirable.
Certifications & Licensure- Registered Dietitian credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) or eligibility to obtain.
- Current Licensed Dietitian status as required by state regulations.
- Ability to maintain all required continuing education and professional licensure.
- Must remain in good standing with all licensing and certification agencies.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Strong understanding of clinical nutrition and medical nutrition therapy.
- Knowledge of state and federal long-term care regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively educate residents, families, and staff.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to analyze data and apply nutritional concepts to resident care planning.
- Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
