HR Generalist

Job Description

TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a full-time HR Generalist to join our team in San Diego.

Job Summary: The HR Generalist provides both operational and consultative human resources support across the employee lifecycle. This role bridges administrative HR functions and higher-level HR partnership by supporting employee relations, performance management, staffing, HRIS administration, and compliance activities. The HR Generalist works independently on routine HR matters, escalates complex issues appropriately, and partners closely with HR leadership to ensure consistent application of HR policies and practices.

This position supports employees and managers across multiple business units and locations and plays an important role in reinforcing effective HR operations, compliance, employee engagement, and organizational effectiveness.

Work Arrangement: Position may be hybrid, with a blend of in-office and remote work. The selected candidate is required to be in the office in coordination with the team's schedule and business needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Serves as a primary point of contact for employees and managers regarding HR policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Provides guidance on performance management processes including goal setting, coaching, performance reviews, and corrective action.
  • Supports employee relations matters by applying policy guidance, documenting concerns, and escalating complex issues to senior HR staff as appropriate.
  • Maintains a consistent, objective, and professional approach when addressing employee concerns.
  • Supports recruiting activities including posting job requisitions, monitoring applicant flow, reviewing resumes, and coordinating interviews.
  • Coordinates offboarding and termination processes, ensuring accurate documentation, communication, and system updates.
  • Maintains employee personnel files and ensures accuracy and confidentiality of employee records.
  • Enters, audits, and maintains employee data within the HRIS, ensuring data integrity and timely updates.
  • Processes employee status changes, job changes, and other HR-related forms submitted by managers.
  • Compiles HR data, metrics, and reports as requested.
  • Supports compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws by ensuring HR processes and documentation align with established policies.
  • Participates in audits and review activities to support adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Assists with implementation and communication of HR programs, policies, and initiatives.
  • Partners with HR colleagues to improve HR processes and service delivery.
  • Consults with higher-level HR staff on matters outside the scope of the role, including complex employee relations, legal issues, or organizational changes.
  • Supports HR leadership with projects, workforce planning activities, and process improvements as assigned.

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a minimum of 6 years of HR experience
  • Experience supporting recruiting, onboarding, HRIS administration, and employee relations preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and employment laws.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently on routine matters with limited supervision and seek guidance on complex issues.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and ability to adapt in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems (UKG preferred) and Microsoft Office applications.
  • HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred.
  • Experience supporting multi-site or geographically dispersed employee populations is a plus.

Salary Range: $65-$80k annually, depending on experience
