GENERAL PURPOSE
This position supports the safe, efficient, and high-quality conversion of rough lumber into precision-milled components that meet production schedules and customer quality requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assembles or prepares rough mill components and subcomponents according to established work instructions, prints, and quality standards.
Performs work at a standard rate based on customer demand and lean manufacturing principles.
Follows standard work methods and safe work practices to ensure consistent quality and workplace safety.
Participates in cross-training across rough mill processes to support production flexibility and skill development.
Operates rough mill machinery such as saws, planers, moulders, ripsaws, and related equipment to fabricate and process lumber to specifications.
Sets up, monitors, and adjusts equipment to ensure proper operation, dimensional accuracy, and product quality.
Performs multiple machining processes using a variety of equipment, depending on departmental needs.
Uses measuring tools (tape measures, calipers, gauges) to verify product dimensions and tolerances.
Identifies machine or quality issues and works with team members and supervisors to troubleshoot and drive continuous improvement.
Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with safety and housekeeping standards.
Cross-trains in additional rough mill operations as required.
Safely receives, stages, moves, and pulls raw lumber and finished components throughout the facility.
Accurately tracks materials and inventory using proper identification and documentation procedures.
Operates material handling equipment as required (manual or powered, where certified).
Supports production flow by ensuring materials are available at the right time and location.
Performs additional duties as assigned to support business objectives, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Education/Experience
One of the following is required: (1) High school diploma or its equivalent (GED for example), (2) work experience which demonstrates performance competency
Skills and Abilities
Competent in basic math skills, including counting, addition, subtraction, and simple measurements.
Ability to work cooperatively within a team and across departments to meet production goals.
Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to adapt in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Preferred advanced math or technical skills related to equipment setup and dimensional tolerances (e.g., GD&T exposure).
Ability to use precision measuring tools accurately.

Ability to regularly lift up to 10 lbs, frequently lift up to 25 lbs, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
