SECURITY SUPERVISOR

Job Description

Overview:

The Security Supervisor will provide supervision of policies and procedures implemented for the Security Department and conduct audits to provide a safe and secure environment. In collaboration with the Security Department Manager, responsible for supervision of employee relationship including disciplinary actions, training, performance, and employee satisfaction. Assist with improvements to patient/customer satisfaction.

Essential Duties:

  • Acts as a role model for staff and represents Riverside Healthcare’s core values of integrity, excellence, partnership, and stewardship.
  • Assists with staff meetings; seizes opportunities to foster communication, provide practice and organizational updates, share information, teach and continually challenge and develop staff.
  • Provides daily supervision to Security staff.
  • Provides consultation for improving patient/customer satisfaction.
  • Effectively prioritizes and executes tasks when under pressure.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned to achieve organizational/departmental goals.
  • Supervision of employee time keeping, attendance, and investigation of discrepancies.
  • Inventory management of departmental supplies.
  • Monitors and resolves patient complaints.
  • Conducts disciplinary actions in collaboration with department leadership and Human Resources.
  • Periodically rounds with, and conduct performance reviews, of each staff member.
  • Assists Team Leaders with new hire training.
  • Monitors staff compliance with education and training. 
  • Supervision of departmental work flow and process improvement strategies.
  • Knowledgeable of vendor responsibilities. 
  • Coordinate and evaluate monthly emergency preparedness staff knowledge and skills.
  • Ensure a safe and secure environment for all persons within Riverside Healthcare properties.
  • Supervises scheduled patrols of properties in the prevention of crime.
  • Supervises monthly departmental assignments.
  • Conducts scheduled audits of access control, CCTV, and report writing software.

Responsibilities:

Required Experience:

  • 3-5 years prior lead/supervisory experience
  • Security or law enforcement experience
  • Excellent computer, communication, and interpersonal skills required
  • Independent, critical thinking and accuracy/attention-to-detail skill level needed

Preferred Experience:

  • Demonstrated continued education in law enforcement preferred
  • Healthcare experience preferred
  • Campus environment experience preferred

Required Licensure/Education:

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Valid Illinois Driver’s License
  • Evidence of good driving record up to 7 years may be required to meet insurability in Riverside’s insurance program. Insurability in Riverside’s insurance program is a requirement of the position

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • CPR Certificate preferred
  • Certification of IAHSS preferred

  • Vision: Ability to observe activities which pose a risk to the hospital and ability to drive a vehicle.
  • Smell: Alert to potential life safety and chemical hazards.
  • Hearing: Auditory alert to radio transmissions and verbal interactions.
  • Touch: Tactical recognition of safety hazards, manual manipulation of equipment, and physical ability to grasp while assisting persons.
