Director of Safety-Power Contracting- Phoenix, AZ (onsite)- Houston, TX

Job Description

Position Summary: 

Power Contracting’s Director of Safety is responsible for the standardization, implementation and execution of companywide safety programs and initiatives. This position establishes processes and strategies to deliver a positive safety culture and supports for a safe, qualified workforce.

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborates with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures.
  • Recommend improvements to safety programs and program processes
  • Develops loss reduction strategies across the division
  • Assists with ensuring all safety manuals, programs, policies, and practices are current
  • Build consensus when appropriate, motivate and encourage others
  • Communicates well both verbally and in writing (creates accurate and punctual reports, delivers presentations)
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
  • Ensures completion of required OSHA recordkeeping and reporting.
  • Enforces stop authorization for all operations and activities that could harm employees or equipment.
  • Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
  • Conducts safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations.
  • Reviews accident and incident reports.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least five years of occupational health and safety experience in the electric utilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
