Director HSE

Job Description

The HSE Director for Governance & Compliance provides global oversight to ensure effective execution of Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance programs across headquarters and site operations. This role partners closely with AERO Legal HSEPS, headquarters leadership, and site HSE teams to maintain regulatory compliance, implement Aerospace policies and procedures, and drive continual improvement. The position requires strong regulatory expertise, the ability to manage and mentor HSE professionals in person and virtually. The position also requires demonstrated capability in interpreting and applying global HSE regulations. Responsibilities include coordination with legal counsel, supporting regulatory communications, managing complex compliance matters, and leading HSE activities during transitions, mergers, and acquisitions. The role also oversees the AERO inspection and auditing program and serves as the back‑up to the Sr. Director of Governance & Compliance.

Travel requirement: up to 35%.


Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for environmental programs affecting AERO locations and sites
  • Mentor and manage AERO HQ HSE environmental engineers
  • Lead AERO internal HSE auding and inspection program
  • Strategically identify and implement continuous improvement processes to drive global compliance
  • Develop, manage, and revise HSE programs, procedures, and policies to drive efficiencies
  • Oversee key programs such as the Assurance Letter Program and Emerging Issues Process
  • Provide oversight of Safety programs with the assistance PRIN Engineers
  • Support digital transformation of documentation processes using AI and automation tools
  • Develop executive HSE updates and communications
  • Liaise with Legal HSEPS team to align goals and objectives with that team


Qualifications
You Must Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of HSE leadership experience
  • 3+ years of operational HSE oversight across multiple sites
  • Direct experience managing complex environmental permits (Title V air permitting, RCRA Hazardous Waste, Stormwater/Wastewater)
  • Experience interacting directly with regulatory agencies
  • Proven ability to lead large, complex HSE projects involving multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to build HSE team to accomplish challenging goals

  • Advanced certifications in HSE related disciplines
  • Familiarity with HSE management systems (ISO)
  • Experience with regulations globally
  • Experience managing consultancy support for activities such as inspections and ESA Phase I evaluations
  • Experience with HSE integration of new businesses
  • Experience in developing HSE team to address challenges and achieve goals
