Sr Adv Mechanical Engineer - Repair Development

Job Description

As a Sr Adv Mechanical Engineer - Repair Development here at Honeywell Aerospace, you will use your expert technical knowledge and experience in the development of repairs for aerospace components.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise as a team member supporting a global network of Honeywell repair facilities, channel partners, airlines, and third-party suppliers. In addition, will assume a technical project leadership role on a variety of projects and programs and may act as a technical consultant for management.

This role requires a broad understanding of product design, manufacturing, and product repair technologies. The ability to influence, through communication and interaction, to achieve desired outcomes is critical. Must be able to represent Honeywell repair development interests to internal and external organizations and guide the execution of projects both internal and external to Honeywell. The successful candidate will be a point of contact for internal and external customers for overall project status, standards, etc. In addition, this role will act as a mentor to lower-level Engineers.

You will report directly to the Director of Technology, Science, and Global Project Engineering and you’ll work out of our Phoenix, AZ location on a hybrid work schedule. Note: For the first 90 days, New Hires must be prepared to work 100% onsite M-F.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead strategic repair development projects.
  • Provide technical justification for the airworthiness of repaired components.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers.
  • Consult with cross-functional engineering teams on expanding limits of re-use and repair, in lieu of replacement with new parts, while maintaining product safety and reliability.
  • Maintain accurate and complete project records; document progress in detailed reports.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external entities to ensure best resources and approaches are used.
  • Generate intellectual property (IP) ideas.
  • Support Phoenix-Sky Harbor, Tempe and global Honeywell Aerospace sites.
  • Travel: up to 10%




Qualifications
YOU MUST HAVE
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in repair development which may include graduate degree work and industry work experience
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
  • Proficient application of ASME Y14.5 drawing standards include geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), both in creating and reviewing engineering drawings.


WE VALUE
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in authoring technical justifications or substantiations of new repairs.
  • Demonstrated understanding of federal rules regulations related to commercial aerospace, including Parts 21, 25, 33, 43 and 145.
  • Expert knowledge of one or more of the following software packages: ANSYS, CATIA, SOLIDWORKS, NX, AutoCAD
  • Proven experience leading and influencing at multiple levels within an organization
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
