Department: University Libraries Salary: $49,400
Description:
Coordinates communications activities in support of a university program, including, but not limited to, publications, newsletters, annual reports, web site, and informational and solicitation materials.
1. Coordinates various communications projects, to include compiling, editing, and layout of materials.
2. Works with other departments to research, obtain material and organize the content of written communications.
3. Provides content for regular updates of the program web site.
4. May be responsible for producing regularly recurring communications such as annual reports, monthly publications or newsletters.
5. Provides writing and editing services for other communication projects as assigned.
6. Represents the program at conferences and community events.
7. Performs other job-related duties as required.

The Communications and Events Coordinator provides support for UH Libraries' storytelling, events, and programming.
Duties Specific to This Position:
- Write (AP style) and edit content across a variety of platforms, including announcements, e-newsletters, email campaigns, invitations, social media, and video
- Provide support for Libraries events, including planning, communicating, budgeting, creating proposals, and working with vendors
- Create assets that are aligned with University messaging and branding to promote Libraries events and programming
- Bring clear, creative cohesion to graphic design and social media engagement
- Contribute polished and interactive content to social media, including monitoring engagement, responding, and tracking performance
- Communicate clearly and professionally with students, faculty, staff, and partners
- Maintain organized files and documentation
Preferred Qualifications Specific to This Position:
- Experience managing social media platforms
- Experience in a variety of multimedia applications, including but not limited to web content management systems, Adobe Creative Suite, and Canva
- Marketing or event planning experience

MQ: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.
