Job Description

The University of South Florida College of Public Health invites applications for an Instructor I faculty position in the Undergraduate Program. This is a non-tenure-earning position with primary responsibilities in teaching and instructional support. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of high-quality undergraduate education and support the College's mission in public health education. Areas of expertise or demonstrated experience may include environmental or occupational health, health policy, health professions, and/or health care ethics. Additional responsibilities may include curriculum development, student mentoring, and service activities consistent with the needs of the program.

Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Instructor.

Additional Minimum Qualifications:

Experience teaching health-related information to clients, educators, or students.
Must be able to be credentialed by SACS to teach undergraduate courses in public health.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrate professional experience or education in public health.
Experience teaching online and in class.
Experience in curriculum development.
Experience using Canvas or other teaching software.

At least one year of health-related undergraduate teaching experience at the community college or university level.Working at USF

This job description does not constitute an employment contract. Instructional Duties: 90% FTE

Must be credentialed by SACS to teach courses.
Teach 3-4 undergraduate public health or health sciences courses per semester (fall, spring, and summer).
Assist with curriculum review and revision to ensure alignment of competencies and learning opportunities.

Develop undergraduate public health or health science courses in online and classroom formats.
Serve as a course supervisor for one or more undergraduate courses, assuring consistency in information delivery and student learning.
Work with the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies and other USF units to monitor student learning outcomes and the academic progress of students.
Review and approve undergraduate course substitutions.

Research/Scholarship Duties: 5% FTE

Collaborate with other faculty to present and/or publish health-related, pedagogical research or public health related research.

Service Duties: 5% FTE

Participate in College and University Committees.
Participate in local, regional and/or national professional organizations and activities.
Participate in service to the community.

Essential Functions of Position:

Must be able to teach 3-4 undergraduate public health or health science courses for the College of Public Health per semester (fall, spring, and summer), online and in class on the Tampa campus.
