Engineering Support Specialist II

Job Description

As an Engineering Support Specialist II at Honeywell Aerospace, you will provide critical operational, administrative, and technical support to an engineering organization focused on Flight Management System (FMS) software development and testing. You will work closely with software, systems, and test engineers to ensure issues are tracked to resolution, deliverables are met, and engineering data is accurately reported to leadership.

You will report directly to the Sr Program Manager and play a key role in helping the team meet program milestones, certification objectives, and compliance requirements for aerospace software programs. You will work hybrid work mode at Honeywell Aerospace site in Deer Valley, Phoenix, AZ.

In this role, your contributions will directly impact engineering efficiency, quality metrics, and the successful delivery of safety‑critical aerospace solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative and operational support to the engineering team supporting FMS software development and testing programs.
  • Track engineering issues and defects from identification through resolution, ensuring timely closure and documentation.
  • Enter, maintain, and manage issues in Jira, including defect reports, tasks, action items, and change requests.
  • Assist with certification and compliance documentation in accordance with aerospace standards (e.g., DO‑178, DO‑160, or equivalent).
  • Maintain and organize technical documentation using document management and configuration control systems.
  • Prepare and assist with engineering reports, dashboards, and presentations for the Engineering Manager and leadership team.
  • Work to continuously improve our engineering Management Operating System (MOS) through the use of new tools and technologies (e.g. Artificial Intelligence)


Qualifications
You Must Have
  • 2+ years of experience providing engineering, administrative, or project support in an aerospace or technical environment.
  • Experience with issue tracking and workflow tools (Jira and MS Excel preferred).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliverables simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with technical documentation systems, metrics tracking, and reporting tools.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.
  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Ability to analyze and present technical data clearly to engineering leadership.
  • Experience building dashboards, reports, or management briefings.
  • Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence, SharePoint, Excel, Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
  • Experience building or working with Artificial Intelligence models
  • Knowledge of aerospace development, testing, or certification processes.
  • Experience supporting software development and verification teams, especially in safety‑critical or regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with Flight Management Systems (FMS) or avionics software programs.
  • Working knowledge of aerospace certification standards (DO‑178, ARP‑4754, DO‑254, etc.).
