Radio Frequency Technician

Job Description

Job Summary:

The RF (Radio Frequency) Electronics Technician is responsible for testing, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and performing component level repairs on radio frequency (RF) electronic assemblies and circuitry. This role supports the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of circuitry used in communication, radar, navigation, or related electronic equipment. The technician applies strong analytical skills, technical expertise, and precision workmanship to ensure systems meet operational, performance, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform component-level, board-level, and system-level troubleshooting for RF circuits and subsystems, identifying defective components.
  • Diagnose faults using schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and test procedures
  • Conduct RF alignment, calibration, and performance verifications of systems and subassemblies.
  • Document repair actions, test results, and failure analysis findings accurately
  • Use specialized test equipment, such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, power meters, signal generators, frequency counters, and oscilloscopes.
  • Maintain and update technical data packages, and run qualification and validation testing for new product introductions


Education, Experience & License or Certification Education (Highest Level Required):
  • Associate degree in Electronics OR short certificate in electronics (Transcript needed to prove required Electronic Theory) …OR military training in electronics theory repair (Proof needed)

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Understanding of RF principles and AC/DC circuit theory.
  • Experience with oscilloscope, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators and similar test apparatus.
  • Ability to use hand tools for soldering and repairing electronic components, often under a microscope.
  • Training Pre-requisites (Within One Year of Taking Position):
    • ESD
    • Safety Training, FOD, Soldering


Skills and Abilities:
  • Have the ability to complete troubleshooting, testing, and component-level repairs of various electronic devices using schematics and various test equipment
  • Must be able to follow verbal instructions and work within a team environment
  • Ability to properly complete material requests and work-related documentation, then input appropriate documentation into the computer
  • Must have the ability to follow written work instructions and maintain quality standards
  • Experience in soldering is a plus
  • Team player, good work ethic
  • Computer skills desired
